Who are we?
We are a group of volunteers who run the herbal garden.English garden. maintain food forest and vegetable garden at chateau Holtmuhle. The herb garden offers relaxation, a beautiful habitat and we also provide guided tours for those who are interested. Chateau Holtmuhle is a popular guest with us and likes to use the herbs and edible flowers that we have to offer for their kitchen.
The silence of nature has many sounds
and yet full of peace for soul and senses

has come into us and calmly makes us love.

But the time to come will teach people again
to be happy under her chords
and drive out from their blood the fever of the city.

Ik ben al vanaf het begin betrokken bij de kruidentuin. Toen ik er voor het eerste keer in de tuin stapte en de puinhoop voor me zag, begonnen mijn handen te kriebelen. Van huis uit ben ik opgegroeid in het agrarische milieu en daar heeft mijn hart altijd gelegen. Vandaar dat tuinieren mijn grootse hobby is en ik 11 maanden per jaar in de tuin te vinden ben. Daarbij ervaar ik de vreugde van de vele vrijwilligers die samen met mij , met heel hun hart zich inzetten voor het behoud van de kruidentuin. Verder ben ik een echtgenoot, vader en opa en mijn gezin komt op de eerste plaatst. Naast mijn tuinieren kan ik ook nog eens genieten van mijn trein - modelspoor hobby. Het woord vervelen ken ik niet en hoop zo nog vele jaren actief bezig te zijn.

The gardens
We maintain various gardens, Below you will see an overview.
The Herb Garden
This is where it all started. After years of neglect, volunteers started making the herb garden presentable again in 2014.
The Food Forest
There are various trees and shrubs here, the harvest of which is used to make the jam that is sold in the herb garden. The intention is not to pick your own crops here, but to enjoy the surroundings, and here are also the beehives from which the honey is for sale.
The vegetable garden
Various plants are grown here for the herb garden and the English garden. Various vegetables and herbs are also planted here. Vegetable plants and herb plants can be purchased in season.
If you want the gardens to remain, become a friend of the herb garden.
The English Garden
This garden with winding paths is also maintained by volunteers. This garden contains ancient trees. The acacia tree was planted approximately in 1852, when this garden was also created. The garden has recently been largely replanted to recreate the old atmosphere.
Quiet area
This area is not accessible to visitors, it is maintained by volunteers who take into account the animals that live here.

Hello, my name is Joke Kruizenga Enjoy every day when I am allowed to be in the garden. I have been a creative person since my youth and in my spare time I am always busy with one of my many hobbies. Everyone who enters our house witnesses this. I have been painting for many years and randomly create paintings that inspire me at any time. Over the past years I have been busy with the inspiration I gain in the beautiful Herb Garden. For example, I made a painting of a sunny seat under a beautiful pink blooming ornamental cherry. The ornamental cherry surprises me every spring and I think it is worth mentioning this beautiful tree again. I also had a painting made with a honey bee on the beehives in the food forest. While the handy men were doing their jobs, I took pictures and also had a few canvases ready. We have many birds in our garden, including the goldcrest. We have renamed the garden shed where everyone can express their inspiration as Goudhaantje. Here I also painted the Goudhaantje on a tree slice. Just like the Kingfisher that can occasionally be spotted in the garden. In the winter we have a winter break and I have more opportunity to make more beautiful paintings related to the Herb Garden. I hope that I can make people happy with this. In any case, painting all the beauty that nature has to offer makes me very happy.

For example, we expanded the canteen with an education room with a sedum roof from Ecoroof.

expanded this year with new plantings.
